Kuiper Belt

The Kuiper Belt is a region of the Solar System beyond the orbit of Neptune that is believed to contain many small icy bodies, including dwarf planets such as Pluto. It is similar to the asteroid belt but is far larger, 20 times as wide and 20 to 200 times as massive. The Kuiper Belt is thought to be the source of many short-period comets, which are believed to originate from collisions or disruptions of objects in the belt. The study of the Kuiper Belt is important for understanding the formation and evolution of the Solar System, as well as the distribution and properties of small bodies in the outer Solar System.
