
Solid Rocket Motors
Solid Rocket Motors (SRMs) are rocket engines that use solid propellants to generate thrust. The propellant is packed into a solid cylinder or grain, which is ignited at one end to produce hot gases that are expelled out of a nozzle at the other end. SRMs are commonly used as boosters to provide the initial thrust needed to launch a rocket into space. They are also used as upper stage motors, as well as in missile systems and other military applications. SRMs offer several advantages over liquid-fueled rocket engines, including simplicity, reliability, and the ability to be stored for long periods of time without the need for complex fueling systems. However, they also have some disadvantages, such as lower specific impulse and the inability to be throttled or shut down once ignited.
