Semiconductor Device

A semiconductor device is an electronic component made of semiconductor material, such as silicon, germanium, or gallium arsenide, that can conduct electricity under certain conditions and act as a switch or amplifier. In space and astronautical engineering, semiconductor devices are used in a wide range of applications, including solar cells, transistors, diodes, and integrated circuits. Solar cells made of semiconductor materials are used to convert sunlight into electrical energy to power spacecraft and satellites. Transistors and diodes made of semiconductors are used in electronic circuits to control the flow of electricity and amplify signals. Integrated circuits made of semiconductors are used to create complex electronic systems, such as computers and communication systems, in a small and lightweight form factor suitable for space applications.
