Planetesimals


Planetesimals are small celestial bodies that form through the process of accretion in the early stages of the formation of a planetary system. They are typically between 1 and 1000 kilometers in diameter and are composed of rock, dust, and ice. Planetesimals are the building blocks of planets and can eventually collide and merge to form larger bodies, such as asteroids, comets, and planets.
