Onboard Computer

An onboard computer is a computer system that is installed on a spacecraft or satellite. It is responsible for controlling and monitoring the various subsystems of the spacecraft, such as power, propulsion, and communication systems. The onboard computer also collects and processes data from various sensors and instruments on the spacecraft, and can make decisions based on that data. It is designed to operate in the harsh environment of space, with radiation-hardened components and redundant systems to ensure reliability. The onboard computer can be programmed and reprogrammed from the ground to perform different tasks and adjust to changing mission requirements.
