Geomagnetic Storms

Geomagnetic storms are disturbances in the Earth's magnetic field caused by solar wind and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from the Sun. These storms can cause a variety of effects on Earth, including power grid fluctuations, satellite communication disruptions, and auroras. The severity of a geomagnetic storm is measured by its Kp index, which ranges from 0 to 9, with 9 being the most severe. Geomagnetic storms can also pose a radiation hazard to astronauts and airline passengers at high altitudes.
