MHD

Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is a branch of space and astronautical engineering that studies the dynamics of electrically conducting fluids, such as plasma, in the presence of magnetic fields. MHD has applications in various fields, including astrophysics, fusion energy research, and space propulsion. In astrophysics, MHD is used to study the behavior of plasma in stars, galaxies, and other celestial bodies. In fusion energy research, MHD is used to confine and control the plasma in fusion reactors. In space propulsion, MHD is used to accelerate plasma to high velocities and generate thrust. MHD thrusters have the potential to revolutionize space travel by providing high specific impulse and efficiency. MHD also has applications in the design of reentry vehicles and heat shields, as well as in the study of space weather and its effects on spacecraft.
