Laser Propulsion Systems


Laser Propulsion Systems are a type of propulsion system that uses laser beams to propel a spacecraft. The system works by directing a high-powered laser beam at a specially designed spacecraft, which absorbs the energy and converts it into thrust. The laser beam can be generated either on the spacecraft itself or from a ground-based source. Laser Propulsion Systems have the potential to provide much higher speeds than traditional chemical rockets, making them ideal for deep space exploration. They are also more efficient, as they do not require the heavy fuel loads of traditional rockets. However, Laser Propulsion Systems are still in the experimental stage and face several technical challenges, such as the need for lightweight and durable materials that can withstand the high temperatures generated by the laser beam.
