
Cooling Fluid
Cooling fluid is a substance used to transfer heat away from a spacecraft or its components to maintain their temperature within safe operating limits. In space, there is no air to conduct heat away from the spacecraft, so cooling fluid is circulated through the spacecraft's cooling system to absorb heat and carry it to radiators that release the heat into space. Cooling fluid is also used to cool the engines of rockets during launch and to cool the electronics and other equipment on board. The choice of cooling fluid depends on the specific application and the temperature range required. Common cooling fluids used in space and astronautical engineering include water, ammonia, and liquid hydrogen.
