Water Recycling

Water recycling is the process of treating wastewater and reusing it for various purposes such as irrigation, industrial processes, and even drinking water. In space and astronautical engineering, water recycling is a crucial aspect of life support systems for long-duration missions. The process involves treating wastewater from various sources such as urine, sweat, and humidity condensate, and removing impurities and contaminants to make it safe for reuse. The treated water is then stored and distributed for various purposes. Water recycling systems in space are designed to be highly efficient and reliable, as the availability of water is limited and crucial for the survival of astronauts. NASA's Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) is an example of a highly advanced water recycling system used in the International Space Station (ISS).
