Viscoelastic Materials
Viscoelastic materials are materials that exhibit both viscous and elastic properties when undergoing deformation. These materials have a time-dependent response to applied stress or strain, meaning that their mechanical behavior changes over time. In space and astronautical engineering, viscoelastic materials are used in a variety of applications, including as thermal protection systems for spacecraft, as vibration dampers for launch vehicles, and as shock absorbers for landing systems.
