UV

UV stands for ultraviolet radiation, which is a type of electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than that of visible light but longer than X-rays. In space and astronautical engineering, UV radiation is a major concern due to its harmful effects on human health and spacecraft materials. Exposure to UV radiation can cause skin cancer, cataracts, and damage to electronic components. Therefore, spacecraft and spacesuits are designed to protect astronauts from UV radiation. Additionally, UV radiation can be used for various purposes in space, such as sterilization of equipment and materials, and detection of certain molecules in the atmosphere of planets and moons.
