UDP

UDP (User Datagram Protocol) is a transport layer protocol that operates on top of IP (Internet Protocol) and provides a connectionless communication service for applications. Unlike TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), UDP does not provide reliability, flow control, or error recovery mechanisms. Instead, UDP sends datagrams, which are independent units of data, to the destination without establishing a connection. UDP is commonly used for real-time applications, such as video streaming and online gaming, where speed is more important than reliability. However, UDP can also be used for simple request-response protocols, such as DNS (Domain Name System) and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). In the context of space and astronautical engineering, UDP can be used for transmitting telemetry data from spacecraft to ground stations, as well as for controlling spacecraft operations remotely.
