Connectionless Communication
Connectionless communication is a method of data transmission in which a sender transmits data to a receiver without establishing a dedicated communication channel or connection beforehand. In this method, each data packet is treated as an independent unit and is routed through the network based on the destination address contained within the packet. Connectionless communication is commonly used in space and astronautical engineering for transmitting telemetry data from spacecraft to ground stations. This is because the communication link between the spacecraft and ground station is often intermittent and subject to disruptions, and connectionless communication allows for more efficient use of the available bandwidth. However, connectionless communication is also less reliable than connection-oriented communication, as there is no guarantee that all packets will be received by the receiver.
