Space Launch System
Space Launch System (SLS) is a super heavy-lift launch vehicle designed by NASA to carry crew and cargo beyond low Earth orbit. It is the most powerful rocket ever built and is intended to be the primary launch vehicle for the Artemis program, which aims to land the first woman and the next man on the Moon by 2024. The SLS consists of a core stage, two solid rocket boosters, and an upper stage. The core stage is powered by four RS-25 engines, which are the same engines used on the Space Shuttle. The solid rocket boosters are the largest ever built and provide additional thrust during the first two minutes of flight. The upper stage is powered by a single engine and is capable of multiple restarts, allowing it to perform complex missions beyond Earth's orbit.
