Solar Power
Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Photovoltaic cells convert light into an electric current using the photovoltaic effect. CSP systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. The concentrated heat is then used to generate electricity in a steam turbine. Solar power is a renewable and sustainable source of energy that has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. It has various applications in space and astronautical engineering, including powering satellites and spacecraft, as well as providing energy for long-duration space missions.
