Sea Level
Sea level is the average level of the ocean's surface. In space and astronautical engineering, sea level is used as a reference point for measuring altitude and atmospheric pressure. The altitude of a spacecraft or satellite is often measured relative to sea level. Additionally, atmospheric pressure at sea level is used as a baseline for designing spacecraft and spacesuits that can withstand the pressure changes and vacuum of space. Understanding sea level is also important for studying the effects of climate change on the Earth's oceans and coastlines.
