Railgun

A railgun is a type of electromagnetic launcher that uses parallel conductors, or rails, to accelerate and launch a projectile. In space and astronautical engineering, railguns have been proposed as a potential means of launching payloads into orbit, as they can achieve very high velocities with relatively low amounts of propellant. However, the technology is still in the experimental stage and has not yet been used for space launch. Railguns have also been proposed as a potential weapon system for spacecraft, as they can fire projectiles at very high speeds over long distances.
