Plasma Confinement


Plasma confinement refers to the ability to contain and control plasma, which is a state of matter consisting of charged particles, in a defined region using magnetic fields or other means. This is a critical aspect of many space and astronautical engineering applications, including fusion energy research, space propulsion, and plasma processing. In fusion energy research, plasma confinement is necessary to achieve the high temperatures and pressures required for nuclear fusion reactions to occur. In space propulsion, plasma confinement is used to generate thrust by accelerating plasma out of a spacecraft's engine. In plasma processing, confinement is used to create and control plasma-based chemical reactions for materials processing and other industrial applications.
