
Nuclear Fission
Nuclear fission is a process in which the nucleus of an atom is split into two or more smaller nuclei, along with the release of a large amount of energy. In astronautical engineering, nuclear fission is used as a power source for spacecraft, as it provides a high energy density and can operate for long periods of time without refueling.
