NOAA

NOAA stands for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which is a scientific agency within the United States Department of Commerce that focuses on the conditions of the oceans, major waterways, and the atmosphere. NOAA's mission is to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts, to share that knowledge and information with others, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, NOAA operates a number of satellites that provide critical data for weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and environmental management. These satellites include the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) series, which provide continuous monitoring of weather conditions over the United States, and the Polar Operational Environmental Satellite (POES) series, which provide global coverage of weather and environmental conditions. NOAA also operates the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR), which provides real-time solar wind data and space weather alerts.
