Neutron Flux

Neutron flux is the measure of the number of neutrons passing through a unit area in a unit time. In space and astronautical engineering, neutron flux is an important parameter in the design and operation of nuclear reactors, as well as in the study of the effects of radiation on materials and electronics. Neutron flux is affected by factors such as the energy and direction of the neutrons, the geometry of the reactor or material being studied, and the presence of neutron-absorbing materials. Accurate measurement and control of neutron flux is critical to ensure safe and efficient operation of nuclear reactors, and to minimize the risk of radiation damage to spacecraft and other equipment in space.
