GLONASS
GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is a satellite-based navigation system operated by the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces. It provides real-time positioning, velocity, and timing information to military and civilian users globally. The system consists of a constellation of 24 satellites in three orbital planes, with each satellite transmitting signals on two frequencies. GLONASS uses a similar technology to GPS and is compatible with it, allowing users to receive signals from both systems for increased accuracy and reliability. The system also includes ground control stations, communication links, and user receivers. GLONASS has various applications, including navigation for land, sea, and air transportation, surveying, mapping, and search and rescue operations.
