Minor Planets

Minor planets, also known as asteroids, are small celestial bodies that orbit the Sun. They are typically composed of rock or metal and are remnants from the formation of the solar system. Minor planets can range in size from a few meters to several hundred kilometers in diameter. They are primarily located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, but can also be found in other regions of the solar system. The study of minor planets is important for understanding the formation and evolution of the solar system, as well as for identifying potential hazards to spacecraft and Earth. Scientists use telescopes and spacecraft to study minor planets and gather information about their composition, structure, and orbit.
