Lorentz Force

Lorentz force is the force exerted on a charged particle in an electromagnetic field. It is the sum of the electric force and the magnetic force acting on the particle. The electric force is proportional to the charge of the particle and the strength of the electric field, while the magnetic force is proportional to the charge of the particle, its velocity, and the strength of the magnetic field. The Lorentz force is an important concept in space and astronautical engineering as it is responsible for the motion of charged particles in space, such as those in the Earth's magnetosphere and in the solar wind. It is also a key factor in the design and operation of electric propulsion systems for spacecraft.
