ICMP

ICMP stands for Internet Control Message Protocol. It is a network protocol used to send error messages and operational information about network conditions. ICMP messages are typically generated by network devices, such as routers, to indicate error conditions or to provide diagnostic information. ICMP messages are also used by network administrators to troubleshoot network problems and to test network connectivity. ICMP messages are an important part of the Internet Protocol (IP) suite, and are used by many different network protocols, including IPv4 and IPv6.
