Gene Expression
Gene expression is the process by which information from a gene is used in the synthesis of a functional gene product. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, gene expression studies are conducted to understand the effects of spaceflight on the expression of genes in living organisms. These studies can help identify the molecular mechanisms underlying the physiological changes observed in astronauts during spaceflight, such as bone loss, muscle wasting, and immune dysfunction. Gene expression analysis can also be used to develop countermeasures to mitigate the negative effects of spaceflight on human health. In addition, gene expression studies can be used to understand the effects of space radiation on living organisms, which is important for the safety of astronauts during long-duration space missions.
