
Electrothermal
Electrothermal refers to the use of electricity to generate heat in a space and astronautical engineering context. This can be achieved through various methods such as resistive heating, induction heating, and arc heating. Electrothermal systems are commonly used in spacecraft for a variety of purposes such as propulsion, thermal control, and power generation. Resistive heating is often used to heat up spacecraft components and subsystems, while induction heating is used for melting and welding metals. Arc heating is used for plasma generation and propulsion. Electrothermal systems are also used in thermal protection systems to protect spacecraft from the extreme heat generated during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.
