Doppler Shift

Doppler Shift is the change in frequency or wavelength of a wave in relation to an observer who is moving relative to the wave source. In space and astronautical engineering, Doppler Shift is used to measure the velocity and distance of objects in space. This is done by analyzing the shift in frequency of the electromagnetic waves emitted by the object, such as a star or a planet, as they travel through space and are received by a spacecraft or telescope. Doppler Shift is also used in satellite communication to compensate for the frequency shift caused by the relative motion between the satellite and the ground station.
