
Cyclic Redundancy Check
Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is a method used to detect errors in digital data transmission. It involves adding a fixed-size, extra data bit sequence to the end of the data block being transmitted. The receiver then performs the same calculation on the received data and compares the result to the transmitted CRC value. If the two values match, it is assumed that the data was transmitted without errors. If they do not match, an error is detected and the data is retransmitted. CRC is commonly used in space and astronautical engineering for error detection in communication systems, such as satellite communication, deep space communication, and telemetry systems.
