Concentrated Solar Power Systems
Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Systems are a type of solar thermal technology that uses mirrors or lenses to concentrate a large area of sunlight onto a small area. This concentrated sunlight is then converted into heat, which can be used to generate electricity through a steam turbine or heat engine. CSP systems can be classified into four main types: parabolic trough, power tower, dish/engine, and linear Fresnel reflector. CSP systems have the advantage of being able to store thermal energy, allowing for electricity generation even when the sun is not shining. However, CSP systems require large amounts of land and water, and their efficiency is affected by weather conditions such as cloud cover and dust.
