Carbon-based Materials


Carbon-based materials refer to any material that is primarily composed of carbon atoms. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, carbon-based materials are of great interest due to their unique properties such as high strength, low weight, and excellent thermal conductivity. These materials are used in a variety of applications including spacecraft structures, thermal protection systems, and propulsion systems. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are being investigated for use in propulsion systems due to their high strength and potential for high electrical conductivity.
