Bits
In space and astronautical engineering, bits refer to the smallest unit of digital information that can be transmitted or processed. A bit can have a value of either 0 or 1, and is used to represent data in binary form. In spacecraft communication systems, bits are used to transmit telemetry data, commands, and other information between ground stations and spacecraft. The speed at which bits can be transmitted is measured in bits per second (bps) or its multiples such as kilobits per second (kbps) or megabits per second (Mbps). The ability to transmit and process large amounts of data quickly and accurately is critical for space missions, especially those involving remote sensing, scientific research, and human spaceflight.
