Aircraft propulsion is the process of generating thrust to propel an aircraft through the air. Electric propulsion systems use electric power to accelerate propellant, which is expelled out of the rocket nozzle to create thrust. Nuclear propulsion systems use nuclear reactions to heat propellant, which is then expelled out of the rocket nozzle to create thrust.
