
Vapor-compression Refrigeration System
A vapor-compression refrigeration system is a type of refrigeration system commonly used in spacecraft and other astronautical applications. It works by compressing and expanding a refrigerant gas, which absorbs and releases heat as it changes state between liquid and gas. The system consists of four main components: a compressor, a condenser, an expansion valve, and an evaporator. The compressor pumps the refrigerant gas from the evaporator to the condenser, where it is cooled and condensed into a liquid. The liquid then passes through the expansion valve, where it is allowed to expand and evaporate, absorbing heat from the surrounding environment. The resulting gas is then returned to the compressor to begin the cycle again.
