Thermoelectric Generator
A thermoelectric generator (TEG) is a device that converts heat directly into electricity. It works on the principle of the Seebeck effect, which states that a temperature difference between two dissimilar metals or semiconductors produces a voltage difference. In space and astronautical engineering, TEGs are used to power spacecraft and satellites, as they can generate electricity from the heat produced by the decay of radioactive isotopes or from the waste heat generated by electronic components. TEGs are also used in space suits to power various instruments and equipment. They are preferred over other power sources due to their reliability, durability, and low maintenance requirements.
