Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)


Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a type of radar that uses the motion of a radar antenna over a target region to provide finer spatial resolution than conventional radar. SAR systems use the Doppler effect to create a two-dimensional image or three-dimensional reconstruction of objects or landscapes on the Earth's surface. SAR is particularly useful for remote sensing applications, such as monitoring changes in the Earth's surface, mapping terrain, and detecting objects on the ground or in the ocean. SAR can also be used for military surveillance and reconnaissance purposes. SAR systems can operate in a variety of frequency bands, including X-band, C-band, and L-band, and can be mounted on aircraft, satellites, or ground-based platforms.
