Subcarrier

In space and astronautical engineering, a subcarrier is a sinusoidal waveform that is modulated onto a carrier signal to transmit information. Subcarriers are used in various communication systems, including satellite communication, to increase the amount of data that can be transmitted over a single channel. By modulating the subcarrier with the information signal, multiple subcarriers can be transmitted simultaneously on the same carrier frequency, allowing for more efficient use of the available bandwidth. Subcarriers are also used in radio navigation systems, such as GPS, to transmit timing and positioning information.
