Spectral Band


In space and astronautical engineering, a spectral band refers to a range of electromagnetic wavelengths that are used for remote sensing and imaging of celestial objects. Spectral bands are often categorized based on their position in the electromagnetic spectrum, such as visible, ultraviolet, or infrared. Remote sensing instruments, such as spectrometers and cameras, are designed to detect and measure the intensity of radiation within specific spectral bands. By analyzing the spectral signature of an object, scientists can determine its chemical composition, temperature, and other physical properties. Spectral bands are used in a variety of applications, including Earth observation, planetary science, and astrophysics.
