
Self-luminous Devices
Self-luminous devices are electronic devices that emit light without the need for an external light source. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, self-luminous devices are used extensively in spacecraft and satellites for various purposes such as illumination, communication, and navigation. Self-luminous devices can be based on different technologies such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), electroluminescent (EL) panels, and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). These devices are preferred over traditional light sources because they are more energy-efficient, have a longer lifespan, and are more reliable in harsh space environments. Self-luminous devices are also used in spacesuits and helmets to provide illumination for astronauts during extravehicular activities (EVAs) and in spacecraft cabins to create a comfortable environment for the crew.
