Risk Mitigation

Risk mitigation is the process of identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks, and taking actions to reduce, avoid, or transfer the likelihood and/or impact of those risks. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, risk mitigation is a critical aspect of ensuring mission success and crew safety. This involves identifying potential hazards and developing strategies to minimize or eliminate them, such as designing redundant systems, conducting thorough testing and analysis, and implementing emergency procedures. Risk mitigation also involves ongoing monitoring and evaluation of risks throughout the mission, and adapting strategies as necessary to address new or unforeseen risks.
