Regenerative Cooling
Regenerative cooling is a method of cooling rocket engines that involves circulating the fuel or oxidizer through channels in the engine's combustion chamber and nozzle walls. The fuel or oxidizer absorbs heat from the hot metal walls, which helps to cool the engine and prevent it from melting or warping due to the high temperatures generated during combustion. The heated fuel or oxidizer is then pumped back into the engine to be burned again, creating a closed loop system. Regenerative cooling is commonly used in liquid rocket engines, where the fuel and oxidizer are already circulating through the engine, but can also be used in solid rocket motors by incorporating cooling channels into the motor casing.
