Parity Check Codes
Parity check codes are error-detecting codes used in digital communication systems to detect errors that occur during transmission. These codes work by adding an extra bit to each group of data bits, which is set to either 0 or 1 depending on the number of 1s in the data bits. During transmission, the receiver checks the parity bit to see if the number of 1s in the received data matches the expected parity. If there is a mismatch, an error is detected. Parity check codes are simple and efficient, but they can only detect errors, not correct them.
