
Olympus Mons
Olympus Mons is a shield volcano located on the planet Mars. It is the largest volcano in the solar system, standing at a height of nearly 22 km and a diameter of 600 km. It is a relatively young volcano, estimated to be only 100 million years old, and is still considered to be active. The volcano's size is due to the lack of tectonic activity on Mars, which allows the volcano to continue to grow without being destroyed by plate movements. The volcano's caldera is 80 km wide and contains several smaller volcanic vents. The lava flows on Olympus Mons are relatively shallow and have a low viscosity, allowing them to travel long distances from the vent. The volcano's height and size have made it a prominent feature on the Martian surface, and it has been studied extensively by both orbiting spacecraft and rovers.
