Nuclear Engines


Nuclear engines are propulsion systems that use nuclear reactions to generate thrust. These engines work by heating a propellant, such as hydrogen, with a nuclear reactor. The heated propellant is then expelled out of a nozzle to create thrust. Nuclear engines have the potential to provide much higher specific impulse, or fuel efficiency, than traditional chemical rockets. They also have the potential to enable faster and more efficient space travel, as they can operate for much longer periods of time without refueling. However, nuclear engines also pose significant safety and environmental risks, as they involve the use of radioactive materials. Therefore, the development and use of nuclear engines requires careful consideration and regulation.
