
Newton's Laws Of Motion
In the context of aerospace engineering, Newton's Laws of Motion are fundamental principles that describe the relationship between a body and the forces acting upon it, and its motion in response to those forces. The laws are three in number. The first law, also known as the law of inertia, states that an object at rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in motion, with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by a net external force. The second law states that the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass. This law introduces the concept of force and provides the equation of motion. The third law, known as the action-reaction law, states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. These laws are crucial in the design and analysis of the motion of aircraft and spacecraft.
