Neutron Therapy

Neutron therapy is a type of radiation therapy that uses high-energy neutrons to treat cancer. Neutrons have the ability to penetrate deep into tissues and deposit energy in a highly localized manner, making them an effective tool for treating certain types of cancer. Neutron therapy is particularly useful for treating tumors that are resistant to other forms of radiation therapy, such as those located in the head and neck, brain, and prostate. The use of neutrons in cancer treatment requires specialized facilities and equipment, including a nuclear reactor or particle accelerator to produce the neutrons, and a treatment room that is shielded to protect patients and staff from radiation exposure. Neutron therapy is a relatively new and developing field, and ongoing research is focused on improving the effectiveness and safety of this treatment modality.
