Multispectral Scanner (MSS)
Multispectral Scanner (MSS) is a remote sensing instrument that captures images of the Earth's surface in multiple spectral bands. It was first used on the Landsat 1 satellite in 1972 and has since been used on several other Landsat missions. The MSS collects data in four spectral bands, including green, red, and two near-infrared bands. These bands are used to identify and classify different types of land cover, such as forests, crops, and water bodies. The MSS has been instrumental in monitoring changes in land use and land cover over time, and has been used for a variety of applications, including agriculture, forestry, and environmental monitoring.
