Laser (Light Amplification By Stimulated Emission Of Radiation)
A laser is a device that emits a coherent beam of light through the process of stimulated emission. The laser beam is created by exciting atoms or molecules to a higher energy level, and then allowing them to release that energy in the form of photons. The photons are then amplified by reflecting them back and forth between two mirrors until they form a concentrated beam of light. Lasers have a wide range of applications in space and astronautical engineering, including communication, navigation, remote sensing, and propulsion. They are used in laser rangefinders to measure distances, in laser altimeters to measure the height of planetary surfaces, and in laser propulsion systems to generate thrust. Lasers are also used in space-based experiments to study the behavior of matter under extreme conditions, and in the development of new technologies for space exploration.
