Instrument Approach System


In the context of aerospace engineering, an Instrument Approach System (IAS) is a series of navigational aids and procedures that guide an aircraft during its approach to landing, especially when visual references are not available due to weather conditions or other factors. The system uses a combination of radio signals and, in some cases, high-intensity lighting arrays to provide pilots with the necessary information to control the aircraft's descent path, speed, and alignment with the runway.
